JULIA DAUM
INDEPENDENT EDUCATION CONSULTANT

For the past 6 years., Julia has been supporting students through the college process.  She has worked with students with all aspects from class selection to dual enrollment advising and, major/career counseling through the college application process. Julia has a BS from Florida State University and an MS Degree from the University of Florida

 

"Working with teens and helping them find their interests and passions is rewarding.," Julia said.  "Guiding students through the process of self-discovery fuels me."

 

This journey started with Julia's daughters and their friends, who wanted to do full-time dual enrollment but didn't want to miss out on the high school experience. Her oldest graduated high school with an AA degree as valedictorian and attended college on a D1 Beach Volleyball scholarship at Florida International University in Miami, FL.  She went on to study International Business in graduate school at the University of Florida and to study abroad at EADA Business School in Barcelona, Spain.  Julia's youngest graduated a year early from high school with her AA degree as salutatorian and studies engineering at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL.

CARLA BARANAUCKAS
ESSAY SPECIALIST

 

Carla has always enjoyed working with students. After decades as a writer and editor for news organizations, she is delighted to be spending more time helping young people find their voices. Carla is effective in guiding students through the essay process ensuring that their strengths and passions show through to the Admissions Committee.

 

"The college application process provides a wonderful opportunity for individuals to take stock of themselves and to communicate what is essential about their lives to admissions committees," Carla said. "Working with students at this significant crossroads is inspiring."

 

Carla has worked as a The New York Times editor.  She has also worked with HuffPost, NextAvenue.org, and The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, among other media outlets. She has a bachelor's degree from St. Olaf College, where she was an English major. She earned a master's degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and taught there as an Associate Professor for 15 years.
